Join our complimentary, live, one-hour Newcomer FAQ session on Zoom—a safe, welcoming space where you and your family can ask real questions about life in Canada, from housing basics and local services to everyday costs, schools, healthcare, and getting around.
This free monthly session is designed especially for newcomers and soon‑to‑arrive residents, using clear language, friendly facilitators, and practical examples so you never feel rushed, judged, or overwhelmed. In a small group, you can listen, type your questions in the chat, or speak when you’re ready, and leave with reliable information, helpful links, and a clearer plan for your next steps in Canada.

This session is designed specifically for individual newcomers and their families who are in their first year of settling in Canada or preparing to arrive soon. It warmly welcomes permanent residents, work and study permit holders, refugee newcomers, visitors planning to land, and spouses or dependent children who have questions about building everyday life here together.
The focus is on people navigating real settlement decisions—housing, schools, health care, budgeting, transit, and community support—not on corporate or commercial interests.

For this reason, recruiters, paid representatives, and immigration or HR professionals are not eligible to attend, ensuring that the space remains safe, unbiased, and fully centered on newcomer experiences and questions.
During this session, you can ask practical, everyday questions that help you build a stable life in Canada. This includes housing and neighbourhoods, how to search safely for rentals, and what to look for in a lease. You can also ask about finding a family doctor or clinic, registering children for school, understanding daily costs and budgeting, opening a bank account, using transit, and connecting with free community programs and services. Finally, there is space for questions about recognizing and avoiding common scams targeting newcomers, so you feel safer when looking for housing, work, or services online and in your new community.

In this session, we cover:
Housing & rentals
Schools & childcare
Budgeting & cost of living
Transit & getting around
Healthcare basics
Community programs
Banking & everyday life in Canada
Avoiding scams
